PE Kit Policy Letter

Physical Education is a compulsory subject in the National Curriculum for all pupils at KS3 and KS4.

All of our pupils are expected to wear school kit for all their PE lessons.  The vast majority of our pupils regularly participate and always have the correct PE kit.  For many of our pupils it is a lesson that they really enjoy and achieve success.  We also understand that some pupils find PE challenging but we support them to give them the best opportunity to make progress.  We ask that our parents also encourage them to be resilient and to try their very best in PE lessons.

We wanted to make you aware that when a pupil fails to bring their school PE kit they are issued with a 30 minute lunchtime detention, which they are expected to attend.  They will be issued a blue PE detention pass and should make their way to the Sports Hall at 12.30pm. In addition, the pupil will still be expected to participate in the lesson, as they will be loaned a clean PE kit to wear.

On the rare occasion, that a pupil fails to bring PE kit and then refuses to loan PE kit, they will be placed into seclusion for the remainder of the PE lesson and will complete a C3 detention after school.  If these concerns continue then there will be an escalation in sanction.

We would like to thank all our parents and carers for ensuring their child brings a clean PE kit to school each week. Many parents check their child’s timetable the night before and this helps their child to remember their PE kit.

Thank you for your continued support.
